Wade Silage Bunker Systems use precast concrete L-Blocks to create a bunker that can be configured around your storage requirements and farm setup.
The standard system is based on 2.0 m high walls, with standard widths of 7.2 m, 9.6 m, 12.0 m and 14.4 m. Bunker length can be increased in 2.4 m increments, making it straightforward to add capacity as required. Other wall heights, including 2.4 m, are also available where needed.
Wade Silage Bunker Systems use modular precast L-Blocks to create a bunker layout around your feed requirements, available space and feeding setup. The standard system uses 2.0 m high walls, with the width, length and number of bays selected to suit the required storage.
Start with one of four standard bunker widths: 7.2 m, 9.6 m, 12.0 m or 14.4 m. Width is selected around the daily feed requirement and the silage face you need to work.
Select the storage length you need. The modular L-Block layout allows bunker length to increase in 2.4 m increments.
Build a single bunker or create additional bays for more storage, different feed types or future expansion. Bespoke layouts can also be developed where the standard arrangements do not suit the site.

Bunker width determines the amount of silage exposed at the face and therefore how much feed is removed as the face advances. These example figures provide a starting point for selecting a bunker width. Actual requirements will vary with silage density, feeding rate and face management.

Once the bunker width has been selected around the daily feed requirement, increasing the bunker length increases storage capacity and the approximate number of feeding days.
Every additional 2.4 m section adds 12 days of storage.
Once the bunker width is established, additional 2.4 m L-Block sections can be added to increase the storage length. This makes it straightforward to size the bunker around current requirements while allowing for future expansion.

Each additional 2.4 m of bunker length also represents approximately 12 more days of storage when using the example 200 mm daily face advance.
Additional bays can be incorporated into the layout for extra capacity, separate feed types or a staged expansion plan.
The standard Wade Silage Bunker System is based around 2.0 m high walls and four standard bunker widths. Where the standard arrangement does not suit the site or storage requirement, talk to Wade about alternative configurations.
Other L-Block wall heights are available where required, including 2.4 m high walls and lower-height options. These are treated as alternative configurations rather than the standard bunker system.
